RELEASE: By entering the Office of the Child Advocate (OCA) First Young Adult Artwork Contest (2026), you agree that the OCA can use your original artwork for agency outreach and communication purposes. The OCA will always credit you according to the selection you made on this form. A complete submission includes your original artwork and this completed survey including this signed Release.
Your artwork belongs to you, but you are giving the OCA permission to reprint it in materials – both online and printed that we share with children, young people, and families. The OCA may reprint your artwork in its original form or in an edited, cropped, or formatted version.
You also agree that if your original artwork is selected for a prize, you give the OCA permission to physically display it at the OCA office in 2027 and 2028. You may change your mind about the physical display of your artwork: just contact the OCA’s Youth Engagement Manager, Micah Renner at micah.renner@mass.gov and the OCA will return your artwork to you.
If you are one of the three Young Adult Artists selected for a prize, the OCA will give you a $200 gift card.
The formal name for this kind of agreement is a limited non-exclusive license, which means you are authorizing the OCA to use artwork that you own in these specific ways for a specific time period. You also can give this kind of permission to others if you choose.
IMPORTANT: Participation in this contest is voluntary and optional. If you decide not to consent and not to participate, that decision will not affect your access to services from the Commonwealth in any way.
